With this release, we are revealing all 10,000 Foundation Blockstars’ Skills, Abilities, and Star Ratings! These stats can help you strategize how you want to build your portfolio of Blockstars and play the game.

Why Stats?

Management simulation games are all about operating and managing businesses with a certain set of constraints and resources. For our game, this comes in the form of building your music empire with your chosen Blockstars and their specific set of Skills and Abilities. Like humans, Blockstars are unique in their own ways and have certain strengths and weaknesses. Some are born virtuosos with the potential to be the next Elvis, while others may struggle to make it in a competitive industry.

Each Blockstar’s unique stats holds the key to unlocking its current and future value. It can help you decipher the most efficient ways of using your Blockstars in the game or can be used as a resource for making fair and educated market trades.

What are the stats and what do all the numbers mean?!

This release introduces a few key elements (Stars, Skills, Abilities, Salaries) that are vital to gameplay. This section will touch on what each feature is and what the values associated with each means.

(1) View Star Rating at a glance. Star Ratings are a quick & easy way to evaluate your Blockstar’s overall abilities. The “golden” star(s) indicate your current overall strength, while the dark gray star(s) show how much potential your Blockstar could have.

Only about ~3% of Foundation Blockstars have a 5-Star potential and this feature is a great way for you to quickly spot and snipe these future superstars ✨🤩 out in the wild.

This Blockstar has a Current Star Rating (Gold) of 2 with a Potential Star Rating (Dark Gray) of 4.5.

(2) Skills revealed. Skills are characteristics that can be improved through gameplay and impact how well your Blockstars perform. There are two categories of Skills: Musical and General. Musical Skills are required to form bands and they play a big role in how well your Blockstar performs while Busking, Gigging, or releasing Singles and Albums. General Skills relate to all other aspects of the music business — from Practicing to Social Media — every skill feeds into some aspect of gameplay performance and will impact results.

With this release, you can also see how many Musical Skills your Blockstar has (from 1 to 3). This number is set at birth and is permanent, meaning you will not be able to add/remove/change the number nor the skill(s). In this release you will only see your primary Musical Skill revealed — it is also tied to the musical instrument that is cosmetically visible on your Blockstar. Those with more than 1 Musical Skill will see the rest of the Musical Skills revealed at a later date when that information becomes helpful in gameplay.

(3) See Current and Potential Abilities. Abilities show how strong each Blockstar’s Skills are. These Abilities can be improved, up to the Max Ability, through direct and indirect gameplay. For each Skill, the Current Ability is shown immediately, while the Max Ability is hidden somewhere in a potential range. As each Skill gets closer to the Max Ability, the potential range will get narrower.

So how do you improve Skills…? Some Skills can be improved directly through practicing like Musical, Writing, and Social Media; while other Skills improve when certain gameplay actions are taken.

For example, when your Blockstar writes a song, you can expect their Writing Ability to increase — but by how much will depend on the other unique Skills of your Blockstars and won’t be the same for any two Blockstars!

As Blockstars practice Skills in various Locations, they will see improvement to their Current Ability and a narrowing of the range of their Max Potential Ability.

(4) Salary groups exposed. Your Blockstar’s salary group is now visible. From Rock-bottom to Extortionate — this tells you how much you will need to pay your Blockstars to get them to play. Your Blockstar’s salary group is based on their starting Star Rating, where the lower the starting value, the more affordable the salary. You can think of it this way, the more undiscovered and least honed the Blockstar is, the easier it will be for you to recruit and pay them. On the other hand, why not dominate performances with a superstar right off the bat? You may have to pay an arm and a leg, but you may find glory in the output. This all comes back to game strategy and style of play — there is no one style to rule them all, and players can be successful with just a single Blockstar with humble beginnings, or a roster of megastars!

(5) Access and other features

To see the new stats page, connect your wallet to app.blockstars.gg and from there you can tap your profile icon (next to your wallet in the top navigation) to view all your Blockstars in one place. From there, you can tap the View button to see each Blockstar’s Stats page.

The new Profile icon is located between your Wallet and the Finance Office in the top nav.

(6) Easy access to all your Blockstars images. Each Blockstar’s individual page gives you easy access to view and download each Blockstar’s images — no more mining the metadata!

(7) Easy-to-Read Physical Attributes. Physical attributes are immutable cosmetic characteristics that Blockstars are minted with at birth. They have varying degrees of rarity. You can now see the occurrence of each attribute, with a special diamond label for those that occur less frequently.

Any attribute of which there are fewer than 111 in the Foundation Collection is marked with a diamond label.

(8) Direct access to HowRare.is. Each Blockstar has a direct link to their HowRare.is profile where you can view more information about their rarity and sales history.

What’s next?

These stats are the building blocks for the Blockstars game, so you can get a small advantage by familiarizing yourself with them now. Use this information to make the best buy/trade/sell decisions and to start building out your roster of rockstars! We will be releasing the Practicing loop of the game soon, so now is the time to plan ahead and think about which Blockstars you will want to collect and train. As a reminder, there are only 3 Skills you can directly practice with the first gameplay release: Musical, Writing, and Social Media. And if practicing is not in the cards for your Blockstars, consider them for busking — low salaries mean higher profit margins for you to keep!
