Happy holidays and happy (early) New Year from the Blockstars team!
It’s a time for reflection for many, and looking back, it’s truly been a whirlwind year. We started with our v0.1 (Finance Office) release just over 10 months ago, and now we’ve recently released Band Practicing and are hard at work at our next Blockstar action, writing compositions!
We wanted to take a moment to not only thank you for coming along with us on this journey, but for all of the amazing interactions we have shared over the past year on Twitter and Discord, our weekly Town Halls, and some of you in person in Lisbon. We are so appreciative of your support, dedication, and feedback. To say that Blockstars would not be the game it is now (and will be) without your feedback would be a massive understatement.
To further emphasize that point, we want to take you through the five features that would not be here without that feedback:
One of our earliest community features, we understood quickly how important it was for you to visualize the current abilities of each Blockstar and to be able to quickly decide which skill(s) you may want to practice, all on one page — without having to click into each individual Blockstar to view their stats.
This has been an even more exciting feature because our current List View already looks a little different (more on that later), and it sets a strong foundation for us to continue building and iterating to make List View even better.
Along with List View, we released the “Repeat last action” and “Mark all completed as viewed” actions as a way for players to more easily and efficiently make decisions. This way, players do not need to go through each and every Blockstar to complete or begin new tasks.
Similar to List View, these two features are just the beginning when it comes to the array of tools that will be introduced to help players have a smoother experience.
The ability to “fire” a Blockstar was, by far, the most ambitious feature that we have built so far that was not in the original Whitepaper. It’s not only innovative, but has numerous in-game implications as well. By firing one of your Blockstars, it allows the user to transfer knowledge, learn a new musical skill, and then also earn a new Blockstar.
Also introduced with this feature are the exciting Tour Crates, which are mysterious, beautiful, and hold the potential for exciting Blockstars ahead.
To be honest, this was a feature that we wanted ourselves as well. Blockstar #8905 is great, and the #8905 will always be part of their identity, but I would personally rather have Armin Van Blocken or Harry Styles in my band instead, so the ability to change the name of your Blockstar was released.
From this addition, we were able to add the feature for custom Band naming as well, and will have multiple more opportunities for customization going forward!
As mentioned above, our current List View already looks different from when it was initially released. We’ve moved some columns around, distributed the information a little differently, and most importantly added the ability to sort the headers. Now you are able to sort by ascending or descending order and are able to more easily view your Blockstars by the level of their abilities.
Similar to many of the features above, this also creates a solid framework for future sorting and filtering capabilities down the line.
We are looking forward to the coming year
We already have so many things we are working on and so many more in the pipeline; we’re excited to continue building together with all of you. Thank you from all of us at the Blockstars team!
